• Lunar eclipses are natural phenomena like solar eclipses. A moon eclipse occurs when the shadow of the earth fall upon the moon, blocking the sun's rays from falling on the moon. As with a sun eclipse, exposure to the moon eclipse energies creates an negative energy situation for individuals.
• As for sun eclipses, pregnant women should not expose themselves to the moon eclipse energies, nor should anyone watch such an event either directly or indirectly (through a water reflection or opaque film etc.) Where there is a total moon eclipse, even the areas not directly viewing the eclipse will be affected, so people there should also follow the remedies and precautions. The eclipse energies start 45 minutes before the penumbral (light) shadow passes through your location, and ends 45 minutes after the umbral (dark) shadow passes through your location.

Key physical difference between solar and lunar eclipses

• Physically, there is a key difference:
  • In the case of the sun eclipse, the moon passes between the sun and earth blocking the sun's rays by it's body--casting a shadow on the earth.
  • In the case of the moon eclipse the shadow of the earth's body blocks out the rays of the sun from reaching the moon--the earth casts a shadow (new window) on the moon.

• Although in both cases there is a planetary or heavenly body blocking the rays of the sun--relative to the earth where we are, in the sun eclipse there is a direct obstruction of the sun's rays by the moon as viewed from earth. From space also this would be visible, where all three--sun, moon and earth would be simultaneously visible along with the eclipse shadow.

  In the case of the moon eclipse, the earth would shadow the moon while no physical body would intervene between the earth and moon. This difference creates negative energies of a different nature during the eclipses.

Ill-effects & diseases from exposure to lunar eclipse radiation

On the day of the eclipse--The following articles may be placed under a peepal (Ficus Religiosa) tree to remove negative effects of the lunar eclipse and any ailments such as those listed that one may already have. Family members may all touch these items with the strong mental thought that all negative afflictions are being resolved through this process, thanking the peepal tree for healing them.

NOTE:These items are NOT to be donated to any person as this is a 'kasht-nivarana' (elimination of disease) process and may not be transferred to any person, as doing so will afflict the receiving person, with corresponding karmic consequences for yourself.

LIST OF ITEMS TO BE PLACED UNDER THE PEEPAL TREE (Ficus Religiosa)- You may place some or all items:


• Before the eclipse time rotate a coconut over your head 7 times clockwise and 7 times anticlockwise as detailed in the solar eclipse remedies and place under a peepal or any other tree.
• White til (white sesame) seeds- removes mental negativities and afflictions
• A sacred thread (janeyu)- elevates the effect of the planet Mercury's spiritual energies on the individual enhancing wisdom
• Silver, especially silver 'naag-naagin' (male-female snake forms) - purifies the mind, especially toxic passionate energies
• Rice- creates abundance energies

REMEDIES ON THE DAY FOLLOWING THE ECLIPSE
On the day following the eclipse, donate these items to a brahmin pandit, priest, rabbi, and other such persons. This is a good act for both the giver and the receiver.

• Silver
• Money
• Rice
• Salt
• Sugar
• Ghee
• White chana (chickpea)
• White sweets such as tahini, burfi etc.
