Somvati Amavasya

The Somavati Amavasya is particularly auspicious. Bathing in holy rivers on this day heals married life relationships, and gives one relief from pains, sorrows and disease. This activity is said to relieve the ancestors (pitras) of sorrows and ensure their spiritual progress if the relatives bathe in the Ganga river on this day at sacred spots like Triveni, Haridwar, Rishikesh.
